Żory is the city of the element -- it is not only about the energy of its citizens and changes taking place there; it is about the element in its literal meaning -- fire with which the city is connected in terms of its origin and etymology.

The city was founded in the areas taken from the forest by slash-and-burn -- i.e. controlled burning of forests, hence city's name, referring to embers (Polish żar) -- from Sari to Zari and Żary to the present Żory. [...]
